Submit To Article Directories To Get Traffic

By Eric Hartwell

If you have a website or a product to sell then you will want traffic. Without visitors to your site or your product you will be going nowhere fast and simply telling your friends and relatives about what you are offering will quickly prove to be counter productive. So, if that is the case, how do you get traffic to your site?

There are several ways. Sure, telling friends will get a few visitors but they will hardly be targeted. Another way is to pay for advertising either via banner-type adverts or via Pay Per Click (PPC) for example. This will get you visitors real quick but if you don't convert them to paying customers then you will be paying for traffic that is next to useless.

Getting your site to the top of the search engines is another sure-fire way of generating traffic. But, it takes time and effort and when your are there, or nearly there, someone else will always be chasing your tail for that coveted position and if the search engines change their algorithms, then you may drop down the rankings real quick.

So, why not use articles instead? Why? Because they work.

By writing an article you can get your message across and gain valuable exposure. But, you can also get a valuable link and biography about yourself or your product in a resource box which most article directories allow you to have. This resource box can stimulate readers to find out more about you and the live link you provide can drive targeted visitors to your site. Targeted traffic is like gold dust.

And, furthermore, articles can be taken by web masters throughout the globe (complete with your resource box) and posted on their websites specially for their visitors, with a live link to you and your site. Soon, just one article can be snapped up and published on 200, 300 or even more websites, each one having a valuable one way link to you and what you are offering. The articles, and therefore the links, can stay there for years and bring you traffic for a very, very long time. Bingo!

Eric Hartwell oversees "The World's Best Homepage" intended to be a user-generated resource where YOUR opinion counts. Anybody can contribute and all are welcomed. Visit us to read, comment upon or share opinions at the worlds best homepage or submit or use content at free content resource.

Article Writing: 5 Tips on How to Pull and Hold the Reader

By Dina Giolitto

Okay, so you're getting a feel for this article marketing thing. Cool. Now you must write articles that will engage your reader and hold their attention all the way through, as opposed to "click and flee." Have you ever clicked and fled? This is what happens when your eyes are weary of the internet information overload. You click on an article that's so copy-heavy, it makes your brain groan from the pain. You do not want this to happen to someone who is reading YOUR stuff, so don't barrage them with words. Here are 5 tips to help you create articles that are super-tight and outta sight!

1. Keep it short. The article websites say to keep your articles under 800 words, but I know from my own writing experience that's difficult when an article concept is blowing around in your head. I'll save you the guilt and say that 500-1,000 words is okay. Just remember: if you start rambling, your reader won't stay with you very long. So keep it short and to the point!

2. Pace and balance. Some people who write short articles start with a slow and intriguing buildup, but then cut the reader off at the end. This may keep the number of words down, but the sudden anti-climactic ending makes for lousy reading. Don't leave your reader high and dry! Write a quick summary of each paragraph, then develop each one with three or four supporting sentences. Close with a motivating call to action.

3. Break it up. An article that's broken up into sections is so much easier on the eyes than one with long paragraphs of copy. For this reason, the How-To, "7 Tips" and Q&A are immensely popular. Use subheadlines in Bold type to help guide their eyes down the page. If you can offer your content-hungry article prospects some great, well-paced copy that will look fantastic on their specialty niche website, you can be sure your articles will get great exposure.

4. Focus on the customer. Of course, your article content will come from your own experiences. But instead of saying, "I know this guy who" and "When I designed my website," you can project your story onto the customer. It helps to address the reader and ask questions: "Ever find yourself buried under piles of paperwork?" (You yourself may know this feeling, but your customer doesn't care.) It's all about the reader!

5. Include a call to action. If you word your articles in just the right way, you can really inspire your key customer to take action without making them feel coerced. Tap their wants and needs, offer solutions, and then spur them on to make a change for the better. Of course, the solution is to get in touch with you. Do this subtly in your article, and then do it again with a bit more volume in your conclusion and bio. "Visit Wordfeeder.com today to find out how great copywriting can make a world of difference for your business!" There, see how easy that was?

In general, it helps to visualize the article reaching its final destination. If your article is about cooking, then imagine it on someone else's cooking website. Now imagine the reader, taking in your story. What would they want to read about? How can the visual presentation keep them riveted on your words, so they can make it to the end where your bio and URL link is? How can you get them to click that link?

If you do get wrapped up in the joyous act of article writing, that's a beautiful thing! Just remember to keep your eye on the prize: your business prospects.

Promote Your Home Business with Keyword Rich Articles

By Judy Cullins

Do you wonder what easy, cheap, and fast way you can attract your targeted audience to your Web site? You probably have heard about Web optimization with pay-per-click key words. But, there's a much better, more natural, much cheaper, more lasting kind of Web optimization for search engines--Writing and submitting key word rich articles to the opt-in ezines or the top 20 or so Web sites.

As an Internet marketing coach, I learned this just four years ago, and ever since, my business is booming--both with book sales and clients. At first, I submitted 10 articles to about 20 ezines, then I expanded that to 20, then 50 articles that I also submitted each 2-3 weeks to 20 top business Web sites.

In June 2005, after submitting over 170 articles and tips, when I Google my name, my information and articles show up on over 35,000 Web sites, increasing over 1000 each month. That means 3500+-targeted visitors a day to my Web site. That means boosted sales. Now you know what viral marketing means!

Why? Because business people like yourself visit Web sites and subscribe to opt-in (no spam) ezines because they want free information about a lot of topics.

Wonder if you can even write one article? Follow the abundance of free how-to write articles tips on your author's web site. Learn from these, then take a teleclass, then maybe consulting or coaching. What you will love about this method is that you'll only spend 6-9 hours a week on this #one Internet marketing action. You write and delegate the submissions to an assistant--so easy.

Wonder if your business category is desired?

Www.ezinearticles.com has over twenty articles categories to submit to including cancer, health and fitness, self-improvement, business, finance, home and family, and writing and speaking. Check them out and submit a sample article. Other lists of business sites' URL's will also take your articles.

Remember the key is to include key words and phrases that the search engine spiders will notice. In this article, notice the title "Promote your Home Business with Keyword-Rich Articles" is loaded with key words. Notice the first paragraph that includes such key words as "targeted audience," "web optimization," "pay-per-click," or writing and submitting articles. Make sure your conclusion includes a few key words also.

Keyword Tips

-Make a list of 5-20 key words and phrases relevant to your Web site (youll need these for submitting to other Web sites).

-Make a list of key words related to each articles subject.

-Include your name, business name, product names, city, and state in your Web key words.

-Get help from keyword toolwww.wordtracker.com.

-Think from your audience's mind-what words and phrases will they use in the search engine.

It's one thing to offer a great product or service, but nothing will happen without promotion and marketing. You want qualified buyers to visit your Web site, and then buy. Promotion is the one place you need to put more time, money, and effort into. Business doesn't get better without a strategy and action.

Any newbie and non-techie can do this.

You don't even have to understand "optimization." Four years ago, I didn't know what a key word was. I just wrote and submitted articles. They were full of key words and phrases naturally. The search engines love to see them on other sites with a link back to your Web site, and naturally boost your position--hopefully to the top 20. After seven months, my articles were on 970 other Web sites. Today, over 31,000 and still #1 in search engines.

Your submitted articles will grow, and your Web presence will too. To get maximum value, submit two articles a week to 20 of the top Web sites that accept articles related to your topic. Your results? You've made it easy for your "targeted buyer" to reach you and see your exciting power-written copy for your product and service. A marriage made in heaven.

From OK business to booming. Isn't that what you want too? Think double, triple, quadruple profit results with this #1 way to promote Online.

Improve Your Search Engine Ranking

By Janet Smith

Simple tips to help move your website to the top.

Every website is constantly searching for ways to improve their search engine rankings or stay on top. Google is the dominant search engine to master. For the new website owner keeping up with changes and how-tos for search engine mastery can be a nightmare.

If youre struggling with search engine optimization help is available. Follow these few simple tips to improve your rankings without spending hours and hours only hoping for results.

Choose the right keywords. Often when youre searching for keywords, it is easy to forget the real purpose behind the keywords. Keywords are the phrases your potential visitors are using to search for information or products/services they want. These people are either looking for specific information or a specific type of product. It only makes sense to make their selections easier by using a specific keyword.

Lets use the phrase gift ideas. A quick search at http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/overture.com reveals the last month reports show the term gift ideas to have been searched 1, 584,791 times. While your initial instinct may be to use this phrase, it may not be the most profitable thing to do. The competition is high. If your website is new chances are you wont even be noticed in the mass of competing sites for this phrase.

As you browse down the list of related keywords, youll begin to notice the primary phrase contained in phrases that are more specific. For example, the phrase birthday gift idea was searched 15,291 times. Youre beginning to get in the right area with these numbers. Whether youre choosing the keywords for page content, or pay-per-clicks, or other search engine optimization factors, your competition for these keywords will be less and you are more likely to wind up on the first three pages of search results. If your placement is further down, your chances of good click-thrus diminish drastically. The average person wont go past the first three pages of results, more often not even past the first page.

Content is King. Regardless of whether it is on your site, in your ads, or in articles to help promote your site, content is the king of attracting visitors. While there are some low-ball methods used to keep keyword densities high on websites and in web content, the true results arent worth it. If the information you provide is not written in a reliable manner with a reasonable keyword density (2%) the chances of a visitor clicking thru to your site, or returning to your site are slim.

People are looking for a site they can trust to provide accurate, useful information and products. They could care less about how many time the phrase they searched is shown on the page. They want real information. In fact, when it is obvious that the phrase is repeatedly used, many people consider the information provided to be second-class. Thus, your credibility and chance of gaining a loyal customer goes down the drain.

Incoming Links - Another very relevant factor to achieving higher rankings in the search engines is the number of incoming links your site has. This is quantified by page ranks. Google especially targets this area for ranking purposes. The more sites that display links to your site, the better your chance are for achieving a higher rank in the search engines. There are several sites offering to acquire these links for you for a fee. Be cautious. Ive tested three of these sites, and spent some money to no avail. The results were not at all as promised. Most experienced webmasters will tell you using one of these companies can be a wild guess. As you pursue incoming links, make sure the site is one that complements yours. You dont want a link from a poorly functioning site, or one that doesnt promote ethical practices.

There are many companies offering search engine optimization packages. Just as with every other industry on the Internet there are scams, and there are reputable sites. There are a number of sites offering tremendous results at higher than reasonable prices. If the promises seem to be too good to be true, they probably are. Dont waste your bank account on false hopes. Investigate carefully, before you commit to hiring an SEO professional.

Search engine optimization is crucial to any successful website. Be persistent, patient, and cautious. The results will be well worth the efforts.

Read This Article If You Are Poor

By Lance Winslow

Are you poor? Being poor is not a negative thing you need to think of it as being on the ground floor with unlimited opportunity. For instance many people who are not poor are stuck in dead end jobs that they hate, going thru midlife crisis and the stress is literally killing them. So arent you glad you are not like them?

Being poor or broke is a temporary thing really, well unless you decide to make a permanent thing, which indeed would be your choice. Being poor does not give you the right to steal or blame others for the situation you are in. Besides if you were to do that it would only make you bitter and angry and thus actually prevent you from moving to higher ground.

You need a strategy it get rich or at least well off. I have an idea for you if you will listen. Write down all the things that you want and then figure out how much they will cost to help motivate you. Then if you have no job write down all the places you want to work and all the types of jobs you would love to do.

When you go job-hunting go to the three places near the bottom of the list first for practice. If offered the job, dont take it, but rather use this knowledge to build up your self-esteem and practice. Next set a strategy to get a job at the top of the list. Go to the top of the list and work down, convince yourself that you deserve the job and imagine yourself doing that job. Okay, now pick up a piece of paper and write all this down and go do it. Soon you will not be poor anymore. Think on this.

Relations With China

By David Hallstrom

As far as I am concerened, the leaders of China are not now and never will be our friends or allies. The leaders of China do not care about anything other than amassing power and destroying their enemies and since everyone not Chinese is their enemy they feel that it is their duty to someday rule the world. As far as they are concerened the United States is the largest hurdle to their attaining their dreams, therefore the first thing that they have to do is destroy us. They are not currently capable of defeating us militarily so they have decided to attempt to defeat us economically and so far they are doing a fairly good job at it. They are not our trading partner, they are our trading enemy and they are currently trading us into the ground.

Shock of shocks, today I was reading the op-ed section of the paper and found myself agreeing with the author about American relations with China and the VIP treatment Chinese President Hu is recieving in this country. Both of us agreed that President Hu does not deserve such treatment. My shock was, I was agreeing with Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi. I never agree with her.

Her article stated in part "TODAY, PRESIDENT Bush will roll out the red carpet for Chinese President Hu Jintao, a leader whose government brutally crushes freedom, democracy and the religious expression of the Chinese and Tibetan people. Hu will receive the best welcome U.S. taxpayer money can buy, including full military honors and a 21-gun salute.

This is the same regime that provides military technologies to countries that threaten international security, including Iran and North Korea. The same regime that threatens Taiwan with a military attack, detains and tortures Chinese people for expressing their political and religious beliefs and arrests Tibetans for carrying a picture of the Dalai Lama.

While open dialogue is essential, many of us on both sides of the aisle in Congress oppose the celebratory nature of this official visit.

This is not about isolationism. We must have engagement with China, but it should be sustainable engagement that enables us to maintain our values, continue our economic growth and uphold our national security.

Our growing national debt to China is a national security issue. Countries such as China that own our debt will soon not only be making our toys, our clothes and our computers, they will be making our foreign policy.

U.S. policy toward China is ineffective in upholding the pillars of our foreign policy promoting democratic freedom, stopping the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and growing our economy by promoting exports abroad. Instead, we have pursued trickle-down liberty promoting economic freedom first, assuming that political freedom will follow. Reality exposes this policy as the illusion it is."

There was more to her article, some of which I agreed with and some of which I disagreed with. The point is, though, that we should not be treating the President of one of our most dangerous enemies like he is a favored long lost friend and ally. He is not a favored long lost friend and ally, he is our enemy and should be treated with caution and firmness. It is right that our President should meet with him but it is wrong that our president should treat him with such a show of pomp and ceremony.

Article Distribution

By Javier Salces

Article distribution is a time honored and reliable method of traffic generation.

It is similar to viral product promotion in the sense that your links will spread across multiple channels. Your job is to write high quality articles that other site owners want to use to buff up their content offerings.

When you submit an article, you remain the copyright holder.

All you're doing is granting permission for reprints. Each article you submit should have what's known as a byline or resource box. This is just a brief piece of text at the end of your article where you write a short "about the author" description of you and/or your web site and include your URLs.

Articles can net you great exposure in more than one way.

You'll definitely gain exposure through reprints when other marketers use your article for web site or eZine content. You'll also gain leverage in the search engines! The more articles you submit on the same theme, the more often your articles will come up as top listings for related keywords.

This is a bonus that many people overlook. Try to compose your articles with keyword optimization in mind and see what happens!

Here's a quick reference list of sites to submit your articles to:

http://www.ezinearticles.com
http://www.ideamarketers.com
http://www.goarticles.com
http://www.postarticles.com
http://www.article99.com
http://www.webarticles.com
http://www.womensarticles.com
http://opt-inleads.com/cgi-bin/vp/articles.cgi

Mix and Match Your Bylines*

Once you begin submitting articles and realize their power, you'll probably come up with all sorts of creative ideas.

You don't always have to link to your main index page in your byline. You can link instead to your newsletter opt-in page or even insert your autoresponder address with subscription instructions.

You can also use articles as a type of "pre-sell" for various affiliate products.

If there's a reason you aren't collecting leads and would prefer to send traffic direct to the merchant's page, your article can serve as the pre-sell content you'd normally send out to a list, but with the potential for reaching a broader audience.

In fact, if you choose, you could submit an entire follow up series of articles to an article syndication site, and just drop your affiliate URL (cloaked, of course!) into the byline at the end of each one.

Final Tip*

When you compose your articles, do so with a degree of keyword optimization in mind.

Article syndication sites often come up higher in rankings to being with due to the vast amounts of content they serve.

Therefore, individual article pages properly optimized for keyword targeting can ride on the site's higher ranking. Remember: you've got a link to your site in your byline. Even though your URL isn't technically the one popping up in the listings, you're effectively creating a virtual ranking for yourself. Searchers who click on the article link will no doubt click on your link at the article's end as well.

The 5 Largest Pitfalls in Developing Yourself as a Freelance Writer and How to Avoid Them (Part 2)

By Brad Swift

Are you ready to express your life purpose through writing and being published but you find yourself stopped? Here are the next 3 pitfalls to watch out for and how to climb out of them.

3. TAKING YOUR WRITING PERSONALLY. Now, don't confuse what you just read with the idea of making your writing personal, or using your personal experiences in your writing. Depending on what kind of writing you do, both can be very effective. The pitfall is when you mistake your writing for yourself, a common factor that has so many writers not be able to deal with rejection well. When you mistake your writing for yourself, every rejection letter or request for a revision feels like a personal insult. And boy, I've seen some writers with pretty thin skin and some editors who are masterful at making cutting remarks.

CLIMB OUT OF THIS PITFALL BY: first noticing when you are taking something personally. We all know what it feels like when we think someone is criticizing us. Use that feeling as a signal to make a switch to a more positive response. One way to make this switch is to think of every rejection or comment from an editor as the Universe coaching you in how to be a successful writer. Suddenly, what at first occurred as criticism, becomes constructive coaching.

4. NOT REALIZING THAT WRITING IS A BUSINESS. This can be difficult for a lot of people to learn, no matter what the profession. I had to learn it as a veterinarian, and relearn it as a writer. Luckily, I learned much faster the second time. If you expect someone to pay you money for your services, whatever that service is, then you're in business. Therefore, it's important to not only develop your technical skills as a writer, but to also develop your business skills. I've found that most writers are much better writers than they are business people. That's why in my workshop, FROM SPARK TO FLAME: Fanning Your Passion and Ideas into Money-making Magazine Articles, the focus is on the business skill of how to market your writing effectively.

CLIMB OUT OF THIS PITFALL BY: investing at least equal learning time to developing your business skills as you do your writing skills. Seek out books, workshops, and courses that teach business skills such as time management, marketing, business planning, and accounting, to name a few.

5. TAKING YOUR WRITING CAREER TOO SERIOUSLY: Most writers who want to become professional writers do so because they love to write. But all too often, the fun and love of writing disappears under a cloud of "serious significance." Invariably, when a naturally creative person starts taking life too seriously, their creativity suffers.

CLIMB OUT OF THIS PITFALL BY: lightening up for starters. As the recent best seller attests to, "Don't sweat the small stuff, and it's all small stuff." I also encourage writers to always include in their writing schedule fun and recreational writing. If it ends up somewhere and brings in a few bucks, fine, but the point of such writing is to keep the fun in.

This report is one example of fun writing for me, which shouldn't lessen its value to you. I simply enjoy passing along some of the pitfalls I've discovered (and fallen into from time to time) along my own writing path in the hopes they may be helpful to you.

The ideas in this article are from FROM SPARK TO FLAME - a proven, systematic process for fanning your ideas into money-making magazine ideas that make a difference.

The Ultimate Power of Writing Effective Ezine Articles

By Butch Hamilton

The power of writing effective ezine articles is one of the best ways to achieve organic positioning for a website. Why do ezine articles work so well and how to best use this wonderful medium as part of a successful seo campaign will be the focus here.

What are ezines? Ezines are simply another word for online magazines. Authors will contribute their special takes on relevant issues. The reason that ezine articles come very quickly to the top of a search engine category is the simple fact that many authors daily are writing articles. Hence, constantly changing content is added to the website. Search engine spiders like the one at Google are drawn to areas that have this constantly changing content, therefore, ezines are spidered very frequently.

This spidering works to the advantage of the author enabling their articles to place in top positions on the searches. The results here speak for themselveshigh rankingsmore traffic to a websiteleading to more sales of the product or service offered.

When composing an effective ezine article, one must also remember that blatant advertising is simply not tolerated. Now, one can find a few ezine publishers that allow this, but the better ones will not.

Writing good informational content is the rule here. One can find all types of ways to mold words from an advertisement into an effective ezine article. It takes time and visualization and most of all WORK!

The whole idea behind ezines is the fact that they are already websites, so the only thing needed in that website is information or content. This is precisely why the spiders love these articles, they are simply relevant content added to a website.

People are generally afraid of writing articles or content. Perhaps they think that they will be laughed at or scoffed, but the actual fact is, learning to write effective articles is very simple.

Simply pick an area that knowledge is possessed and begin. Soon, the words will start appearing like magic. This is similar to the same thing as a simple workout routine. The more it is done, the easier it becomes and the more the desired results begin to surface.

Writing articles is like anything else. Simply taking baby steps, then working up from that point to a greater level of consistency, one can achieve excellent results in no time at all.

One very important thing to rememberdo not copy and paste information from other websites trying to fool the spiders. They are wise little buggers, they can tell the difference. One will be smited from Google by using techniques other than original and relevant content in that the websites promoted will not achieve top positions.

All that is needed now is a keyboard and an idea. Then getting to work it the next step!
